Common questions

Will signing delay talking?
No, quite the opposite! Research shows signing actually helps your baby learn to talk faster. We always say the words out loud while signing. Think about how babies learn to wave "bye-bye" - the gesture helps them learn the word. It's the same with all signs!
Is this scientifically proven, or just another online gimmick?
There's extensive research showing the importance and benefits of gestures in speech, language and cognitive development. This research paper by Susan Goldin-Meadow, Distinguished Child Health and Human Development Professor, is a great start if you're interested.
What signs should we start with?
Start with signs you'll use every day like "eat", "drink", "milk", and "more". These are easy to remember because they're part of your daily routine. Once your baby starts pointing at things (around 9 months), you can add more signs based on what interests them.
How do babies learn to sign?
Babies learn signs just like they learn to wave goodbye:
1. They watch you make the sign when you say goodbye
2. They try to copy you when they hear the word
3. They start using the sign on their own
4. Finally, they say the word while signing
I'm busy - will I have time to learn signing?
Yes! You already use gestures naturally with your baby, like waving goodbye. We'll just add a few more simple signs to your daily routine. You don't need to learn hundreds of signs - just pick the ones that work best for you and your baby.
What happens when my baby starts talking?
Your baby will use both signs and words for a while. As they get better at talking, they'll naturally drop the signs. Some favorite signs might stick around longer, and that's okay! Signs fade away on their own as speech takes over.
Is my baby too young/old to start?
You can start at any age! We have special classes for babies under 6 months. For older babies and toddlers (up to 2 years), signing can help make communication clearer while they're learning to talk.
I'm not good at languages or learning new skills. Can I really do this?
Yes, we'll be there for you every step of the way! The course is specifically designed for zero prior experience. You'll get:
  • Fool-proof video tutorials
  • Step-by-step guides
  • Absolute beginner-friendly approach
If you can tell or sing a nursery rhyme and make hand gestures, you can do this!
